Home I — The Bronzes

The pantheon, cast in bronze.

Hercules at Rueil-Malmaison. Joan of Arc, equestrian, in Nice. Napoleon. The private pantheon of writers, philosophers and warriors. Cast in the manner of two thousand years — wax, mould, a single uninterrupted pour, patina by hand.

I.1  ·  Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc, Equestrian.

2024 — Nice

Four and a half metres tall, almost nine tonnes of bronze covered in twenty-three-and-a-half-karat gold leaf, inaugurated by the city of Nice in December 2024.

Commissioned by the Régie Parcazur for a future park in northern Nice. The Maid of Orleans rides forward, lance raised, in a posture that translates the medieval iconography of the warrior-saint into a monumental contemporary bronze.

I.2  ·  Hercules

Hercules, Founder of the Games.

2024 — Rueil-Malmaison

A bronze gift to the city of Rueil-Malmaison, installed for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

A reading of Hercules as the mythological founder of the Olympic Games — a deliberate choice for a city that hosted the rowing events of the 2024 Olympics, and an exercise in offering monumental public sculpture as a donation rather than a commission.
